Minister Louis Farrakhan

Minister Louis Farrakhan
Posted By: Kennette Burgess on October 14, 2010

Louis Farrakhan (born Louis Eugene Walcott; May 11, 1933) is the National Representative of the Nation of Islam.

Born Louis Eugene Walcott in The Bronx, New York, the youngest of two sons Sarah Mae Manning (16 January 1900 - 18 November 1988) and Percival Clark.

His father was a taxicab driver and a Jamaican immigrant to the United States, and his mother was born in Saint Kitts and Nevis in the early 1920.

In 1936, his father died, and the Walcott family settled in the West Indian neighborhood in the Roxbury section of Boston, Massachusetts.

He attended college for two years at Winston-Salem Teachers College (now Winston-Salem State University), where he went to run track, but left to be with his wife, Khadijah Farrakhan (born Betsy Ross), in Boston who was pregnant with their child. Due to complications from the pregnancy Walcott dropped out of college to devote time to her.

He also has roots in the beautiful island of Bermuda, where I am from.
