As students prepare for college, they get a lesson in historically black universities

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on October 27, 2015 GRAND RAPIDS, MI - As she walked into Grand Rapids Community College Saturday, Keli Christopher's goal was twofold. A college fair highlighting historically black colleges and universities was hosted Saturday, Oct. 24, at Grand Rapids Community College. She wanted to introduce black students to careers in science, technology, engineering and math, and she wanted to convince them that the best place to pursue such careers was historically black colleges and universities, or HBCUs. Her audience: dozens of students and parents, most of them black, who had gathered at GRCC this particular Saturday for a college fair dedicated to highlighting HBCUs and opportunities in STEM fields.
