Posted By: How May I Help You NC on February 02, 2017 Dr. Kemba Chambers, Interim President of J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College has been appointed as a member of the Peer Review Advisory Board (PRAB) for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Dr. Belle Wheelan, President of the Commission, notified Dr. Chambers of the four year appointment on behalf of Dr. Mark Keenum, Board of Trustees’ Chair. Dr. Wheelan explained that the purpose of this Advisory Board is to “enhance the quality and value of the peer review process” used by the Commission to maintain accreditation of its member institutions. Peer review is a process whereby institutional effectiveness and quality are evaluated primarily by professional educators whose knowledge and experience enable them to exercise professional judgment. “This is an important initiative and I am honored to be a part of this board” stated Dr. Chambers. “I look forward to serving alongside members from across the southeast who share their expertise and leadership.” SACSCOC is one of eight regional accrediting agencies responsible for accrediting a diverse array of public and private colleges and universities offering associate to doctoral degrees. Its mission is to assure the educational quality and improve effectiveness of its member institutions, and its core values include integrity, continuous quality improvement, peer review/self-regulation, accountability, student learning, and transparency. http://www.dstc.cc.al.us/ If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
