“Queens On The Rise” Fundraising To Send Young Females On An HBCU Tour in August
|
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on July 29, 2018 Tymeya Thompson, a graduate of Lincoln University of PA, is the founder of a new mentoring program in Philadelphia called, “Queens On The Rise”. Queens On The Rise Mentoring Program is a new Philadelphia based non-profit organization geared towards supporting young queens in the community and helping them reach their absolute potential. The program helps girls ages 11-18 with all aspects of life. Each film has their own mentor that helps them with personal coaching, counseling, school work, extracurricular activities, and college/career preparation. Even the young girls are being exposed and introduced to college and career opportunities. The organization has several events that include human trafficking forums, bowling trips, museum visits, college tours and much more! The mentors are all young, motivated, and college educated women that share an urge to strengthen the resiliency and confidence in these young Queens. On August 8th-Aug 10th, Tymeya is taking her queens on an HBCU college tour where they will be visiting Morgan State University, Bowie State University, Hampton University, Norfolk State University, and Howard University. Currently they are raising money to rent a vehicle to travel in and to room all of the queens at a hotel in Virginia. If you would like to donate, they have a Gofundme page which is hooked up to their Instagram page, @queens_ontherise. They are trying to spread awareness for their organization and for their HBCU college tour which she hopes to expose her queens to the HBCU life.
