Alabama State University and Gadsden State CC Presidents Sign Virtual MOU to Benefit Students

Alabama State University and Gadsden State CC Presidents Sign Virtual MOU to Benefit Students
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on May 12, 2020

Dr. Quinton T. Ross Jr. (ASU) & Dr. Martha Lavender (Gadsden State) to sign Memorandum of Understanding. This will be among the very first virtual signing agreements between Alabama institutions of higher education.

The Presidents of both Alabama State University (ASU) and Gadsden State Community College (Gadsden State) will announce and sign a formal transfer articulation agreement - a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) - between the two institutions at a joint news conference to be held virtually on Wednesday (May 13) at 1 p.m. The agreement between the two schools provides a pathway that will benefit those students who plan to transfer from Gadsden State to ASU.

ASU President, Dr. Quinton T. Ross Jr., and Gadsden State's President, Dr.

Martha Lavender, will sign an MOU to formalize the agreement that will be positive news for students. Initially, the signing was to be held live on Gadsden State's campus in April, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was moved to Wednesday's live virtual ceremony.

This will be among the very first virtual signing agreements between Alabama institutions of higher education.

PURPOSE OF THE JOINT 'MOU' AGREEMENT

Wednesday's MOU will provide students with a smooth transition from an associate’s degree at Gadsden State to a bachelor’s degree at ASU.

"Alabama State University is excited to sign a joint agreement with Gadsden State virtually on May 13, so we may conduct business that allows us to continuously fulfill the mission of our institutions which is to make education opportunities more accessible to those students who want to attend Alabama State University," said ASU President Ross.
