She is a published author of three books, I want my groove back!...God’s Way, a Bible Based self-help book, and two books of poetry—The Truth Be Told (2011- her inaugural poetry book that contains the usually secret, sacred, unrevealed words of a proud Black woman- told in truth for all to see) and HeartNotes (2019-a collection of some of Maxine’s finest poems).Her poetry is a distinct rhythmic blend of alliterated words that captivate the mind, challenge the soul, and calm the spirit. Maxine uses her poetry to inspire and instruct, to educate and enlighten, and to embrace her audiences in an exhilarating experience. This author, facilitator, minister, and poet draws upon God-given communication talents and gifts to share words of wisdom and rhyme. Dr. Bryant has been recognized and honored in many ways over the years. While she appreciates all of her honors and accolades, Maxine’s greatest honor has been the privilege of parenting her daughters, Dr. Khaliah Shabazz and Mayosha Martin-Bryant, who passed in November, 2011; and her son, Jonathan. ### In Leslie's Words: Hello this is Playwright Leslie Green-founder of Potpourri of Color Performing Arts LLC who has written, directed and produced 17 productions since 2004, a mother of (3) and also a community activist. In 2015 I created a charitable event called ”Treat Her Like A Lady.” Prom Dress Giveaway for high school graduates. In 2008 I wrote my 1st children's book called “Hi Mom, It's Me” and have written (2) more since “Thanks for being my Dad” and “I Can Only Be Me”. In 2017 I received my Chaplaincy license. In 2018 I released my 4th book, an autobiography named “Weeding Out the RiffRaff” in pursuit of my spiritual journey. In October 2019, I was ordained as a Minister at Upper Room Cathedral of Hope where Bishop William G. Bennett is Pastor and Overseer.
