The Reverend Doctor Taft Quincey Heatley currently serves as the twelfth senior pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Alexandria, VA. Shiloh is a historic church in the Old Town Community of Alexandria founded by former enslaved African Americans in 1863. Prior to serving at Shiloh, Rev. Heatley served as the Executive Pastor of the Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur, Georgia, under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. Cynthia L. Hale, Senior Pastor. As Executive Pastor, Reverend Heatley oversaw all the ministries at the Ray of Hope which totaled more than 50 and managed a staff of 12. In April 2014, Reverend Heatley released his first book, God Is the Goal: The Chase for Intimacy with God. In March 2015, Reverend Heatley served as "Chaplain of the Day," at the Georgia House of Representatives and on March 16, 2015, Reverend Heatley was the guest minister on the Yolanda Adams Morning Show for their Meditation Monday segment. His second book, The Pandemic Pastor, will be released in January 2022. Rev. Heatley is a 1998 graduate Morehouse College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a Minor in Physics. In 2007, Rev. Heatley completed his Master of Divinity Degree at the Princeton Theological Seminary. At Princeton, Rev. Heatley was recognized for both homiletical and scholastic excellence, receiving the Jagow Prize for preaching; the John T. Galloway Prize in Expository Preaching as well as the Elder Garnett Hawkins Award for Scholastic Excellence. His sermon, "A Grave Danger Disciples Face," was published in the Fall 2006 Seminarian Issue of The African American Pulpit. In 2020, Rev. Heatley received the Doctor of Ministry degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA with a concentration in Biblical Interpretation and Proclamation.
