Jenkins, Sr., President PRESIDING Founder’s Day The first observance of Founder’s Day was celebrated on February 10, 1894, one year after the death of Dr. Joseph Charles Price, founder and first president of Livingstone College. Since that time, the College has instituted a holiday in memory of Dr. Price and other important persons responsible for the existence of Livingstone College. Traditionally, the celebration has included a formal Convocation program with speakers repre- senting faculty and students alike. It is also a tradition to place a wreath at the mausoleum to commemorate Dr. Price’s memory and legacy. Founder’s Day commemorates the fact that Dr. Price laid the framework for the rich heritage that Livingstone College has consistently maintained and sustained over the years. During the 10 years of which Dr. Price served as president, a grammar school, which also served as a pre- paratory school was built; classical and theological courses were added for those interested in the ministry; Huntingdon Hall was enlarged; Dodge Hall was completed; and Ballard Hall was constructed. And the legacy continues... The Founder's Day Litany ................................................................Bishop Michael A. Frencher, Sr. Presiding, Prelate, Mid-West Episcopal District LEADER: Blessed be the Lord God for His tender mercy, whereby the day spring on high has visited us.
