|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on August 03, 2022 Kayla Black was born on Thanksgiving Day to James and Michelle Black, a bouncing baby girl, in November 1998. Her family moved to Houston, Texas, and Kayla's life as an athlete took off. Kayla started her athletic career playing volleyball, basketball, and running track at Knox JHS in Houston, Texas. Kayla graduated from St. Pius X HS in Houston, Texas, where she excelled in several sports. It's hard not to love the sport when players and coaches surround you. Leaving her family and friends in Houston, she attended and graduated from Xavier University in Louisiana. Mentored by several coaches (Tameka Newman and Phil Evans), Kayla always knew playing and coaching were in her blood. Ms. Black comes from an athletic family. Her grandfather and parents have supported her in every chapter of her life. Her grandfather James Harris "Shack," is a former NFL player, her father, James Black, was a former college football player, and her mother, Michelle Black, was a cheerleader and HS Athlete. Her brother, Nicholas Black, also played football at West Point Military Academy. Ms. Black is an excellent addition to the Athletic Staff at Philander Smith College.
