Delaware State University (DSU) held its annual Coronation Ceremony on Oct. 5 culminated with the crowning of Master Keith and Joyce Kasiama as the 2025-2026 Mr. and Miss DSU.

It was also a historic first were the new DSU Queen is concerned, as she became the first Miss DSU to also have held a past adult queen title – Miss Congo USA, in connection with her family’s diaspora background.

The Coronation production, held in the Education and Humanities Theatre, was staged as a parody of the Eddie Murphy movie Coming to America, with Mr. Keith going against his royal father’s bride selection and instead choosing his own queen – Ms. Kasiama.

Her platform is “Motor Sports: The 69th Lap,” which not only represents her race to become the 69th Miss DSU, but also her mission to “inspire others, foster cultural pride, and create opportunities for growth and empowerment”

Last spring, Ms.
