Ok, Im a freshie in college and my girl is a soph. She wants to pledge..but the group she wants to pledge just got back on campus from suspension or whatever. I guess she's been wanting to be greek for awhile, and join this particular group.
BUT I guess since this is that organizations first year back from suspension they cant have a pledging process or whatever...( don't get mad at me if im not saying this correctly but this is how she explained it to me)...but anyways she's basically saying that in order for her to be apart of that group all she has to do is show up to a meeting...pay her dues..and get then she'll recieve her letters from that organization...She said she doesnt want to be paper...she wants to go through the pledging process to she can feel like she has a right to actually wear her letters...
I thought that was highly untrue...but I may be wrong thats why Im asking...she's saying she's transferring from her school so she can pledge this greek org. She's going to leave all her friends and family for this...and I can't really figure out a way to talk her out of it...
I mean she's a **** because I told her just to ask a greek or something about it but she said its against the rules...I don't know but she's in the process of getting her transfer papers together and I wanted to know is theier anything I can say to her to make her slow down...
Like I said I dont know too much about greeks..what you can ask them..and what you can't ask them..but in her case what should I say to her..or what should she do?? Because I mean this is only a rumor that she's going off of...

Im not in any type of greek sorority, but I feel her in a way. If I was her I wouldnt go paper either, because its not the same and you may not get same respect as the others who arent paper. Unlike her Im a senior and still trying to pledge, but shes a sophomore. She still has time. They might not have a line this year, but they may next year. She can transfer to a school where they do have an active chapter of what she wants to pledge but that does not gurantee her that they will have a line either.
So if I was her I would wait it out and maybe talk with someone of that particular sorority.

I think your friend was really hasty..... cuz it would be a shytty situation if she transferred and then they got suspended.. I think she should wait.. If it was me, I think I would transfer...but after my Junior year.... Does she know how long they will be papering.. I heard about a campus that was like, we're not going to cross lines until the paper-order has been lifted, so no one is crossing..... but I think it would be a better idea be paper and than be MADE by a grad. person... umm.. wow...
Maybe it's just me....but doesn't SCHOOL come first :? I'm here at Hampton University paying thousands of dollars to get my degree.....everything else I do here (as great as it may be 8) ) is secondary. To transfer schools to chase the mere chance to pledge doesn't sound like an intelligent decision.
