How do you feel about muslims being apart of fraternities and sororities?

i wanted to know because as a muslim on my campus i haven't seen any sisters in sororities and i would like to know what it was like for them. i'm not asking for people to tell things in detail but just their prospective of how they handled it. just out of curiousity.

Well, in regards to Panhells i'm not quite sure because i think they draw from christian principles but i think they might be universal things that can apply to everybody. As for frats like for frats like Phi Mu Alpha and KKPsi i don't see any immediate problems (just because i'm part of the former which is much like the latter) but that would be up to ones discretion and views. Bottom line you know whats right for you and they only way to know would be to go through it. I would suggest that you hunt down some other muslim, especially a religious leader and ask. I'm curious too because we have our eye one somebody who is interested too and he is muslim as well.

No there isn't, as long as they know they're joining an org founded on Christian principles. Alpha Kappa Alpha has many Muslim Sorors 8)

I know on my campus, we had two people who pledged organizations who were muslims. One to a frat and one to a sorority. The brother stated that he agreed with the general principles of the organization, so that's why he joined. I think the sista was in the process of converting when she joined.

Hey, I have a male friend who is in a fraternity, and he is a Muslim brother. He will rep his sorority until the day he dies, but he is still 100% Muslim and will not jeopardize that for anything. I, too, am Muslim and one day may join one of these orgs.
