Okay.....
Last week, I happened to witness one of the most interesting probates at HU. Im sure some of the APhiQ has already discussed this, but i talked about it to them. but I had to comment on this because I was completely taken aback by this organization.
I wonder if anyone else saw this probate and felt the same way that I did.
First of all, there were flyers for this organization's probate, in red and white. Then it appeared as if they were advertising that there were 19 new members, but there was a 0 as the ace of this line, which is unheard of. The numbers were outlined in Red and White triangles or "pyramids."
The actual probate was the WORST probate that I had ever seen. First of all, the line had NO unity what so ever. They didn't have on the same clothes. Their jeans and shirts were different shades of red and blue. ONE OF THEM EVEN HAD ON A BROWN SUIT!!! (she had just left Golden Key induction)
Some of the more interesting things about the organization were:
 Hand sign----Their hand sign resembled Lady Fortitude. and in case anyone didn't know, it is the statue of Delta Sigma Theta.
 Calls---- Their call sounded like Skee-Ooop, but after further research, I found out that it is actually Weeee-Ooop.
It kinda resembled Delta Sigma Theta if u ask me, but hey.
If anyone else wants to comment, feel free to post.
if you care to see pics....visit these sites.

I saw the flyers for it all over the place, but i didn't make it for the probate. For the longest, i was confused and didn't know who or what it was. Not sure i heard correctly, but is it a band sorority?? I believe so. Anywho, i just found it strange that the advertising was alllllll over the place. Or maybe it was just the places that i went to. I was like "wow...they are really trying to get peeps to come out"

NO, it is not a band sorority. Some of the members that just crossed on this line happened to be in Tau Beta Sigma, National Honorary Band Sorority. Gamma Sigma Sigma is a national service sorority. They are the sorors of APhiQ. I didn't think that their probate was all that bad either. Their colors are maroon and white as opposed to red and white. Personally, I don't see any similarities with Delta Sigma Theta. Gamma Sigma Sigma has their OWN call, OWN hand sign, OWN tradition, and their OWN goals and purposes.
Greetings to the Howardites (and others) who post here on hbcuconnect.com...
I am typing this under the username of a close friend of mine.
I am Terri White, PRESIDENT of the Alpha Eta Reactivating Chapter of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority Incorporated.
(Let me also add that I AM a fully initated (as of March 25, Spring 2003) member of the Eta Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Inc...and NO they are NOT the same...)
I am very disapointed in the actions of some of my fellow Howardites. Rather than being supportive of your peers (especially since three of the ladies on the line were from GEORGIA *Rubberband Man*), or even bringing your comments to one of us directly and to our faces, you go and post negativity that only reflects poorly on you and our university on a very PUBLIC forum.
Let me school you. Gamma Sig was founded in 1952...my chapter was originally founded in 1963, and we are currently in the process of reactivating the second HBCU Chapter of the sorority....chapters also exsist At FAMU, BCC, CAU, and Texas Southern to name but a few....notable members of Gamma Sig include Former First Lady Barbara Bush, Mae Jemison MD, and Jessye Norman, who pledged here at HU BEFORE joining Alpha Kappa Alpha or chartering Sigma Alpha Iota on campus...
The colors of MY sorority are MAROON and WHITE. Please pardon us if Kinko's makes a Maroon flyer look red...you are more than welcome to come and view the original in my room in the West Towers.
Second, you have no idea what the NINETEEN of us have gone thru, so please (especially those of us NOT in ANY type of fraternal organization) do not criticize before educating yourself. All of the similarities you mentioned about my origanization with those of Delta Sigma Theta are irrelevant. (Especially since this whole discussion has already taken place between myself the the current Alpha Chapter President MONTHS ago) Have you looked at YOUR yard? You could have said those same comments about SEVERAL orgs on our campus, including Sigma Alpha Iota, which is a full ten years older than the org you seem so bent on trying to pit against us.
Let us not even mention that for all of the people "offended" by our probate, or thought it was sub-par...let me remind you that NO ONE has approached ME (the one you SHOULD be pressed to talk to), inculding ALL 9 of the D9, the four music orgs on campus, as well as everyone else chartered @ HU.....only a few RANDOM people...who (as i will say again) still have yet to grow the balls to walk up to me personally and tell me about MY organization...
Do you know about the HUNDREDS of hours that myself and my line sisters have put in on campus and in the community? NO. Do you know jack sqaut ABOUT MY ORG or its symbols and purpose? NO. You are so quick to point out photographs of a PROBATE (the most irrlevant thing we have done) but didnt even mention the 50-odd cans we collected at this "worst" probate show to donate to local shelters. You didn't even add our national page (www.gammasigmasigma.org) or the 25/52 Family page (since I remember reading about your "connection" with Alpha Phi Omega, do your reserach on THAT) among the DOZENS of other positive pages you COULD have listed that relate to us so that people could learn about what is REALLY important: HELPING PEOPLE AND SERVING.
If you would like to learn more, we will be having an informatonal meeting in January (or if you were really pressed, you would have been at the one we had on November 18th) please feel free to come thru, or you may contact me via our email at ahgsshu@yahoo.com or hit me up personally on AIM as Syrupless.
Better yet, you can contact some of our sorority founders, who are very much so alive and well, and ask those white women were they concerned about any other organization 52 years ago when they chose our colors, symbols, etc....
Funny how it is so easy to tear each other down....wasting a FRIDAY night to come and disrespect girls who are proud of the organization that they have worked hard to return back to campus. After all it WAS First Friday at Dream...
Other than that, we would like to THANK you for bringing even more attention to us and our hard work, and we hope that you have a wonderful holiday break!
Disclaimer: The Ladies of Alpha Eta (both active and alumni) have NO BEEF or PROBLEM with ANY organization on the campus of Howard University nor are we trying to assimilate with or imitate anyone. As far as WE are concerned, petty issues such as these are the LEAST of any Greek Lettered Organizations problems...especially with so much work to be done on campus and in our local community of DC and beyond....

Thank u cold-blooded. I had recognized some of the girls from band, and i made a half-minded assumption. Before today, i was actually quite ignorant to the organization and what it's all about. Thank u as well Terri for coming on here, providing info, and clearing things up. From the pics that i witnessed in the link, the probate show seemed cool. I wish i would have made it. I might have been able too see first hand. Much respect to you and your organization.

NOTE.....something that I should have mentioned earlier....these are not solely my observations....these were observations that some friends of mine and I were discussing. they are a reflection of what we all discussed after we saw.
