Hampton University has wireless networking access. I am finding that more and more students are beginning to take advantage of it, as they update their computers to support this technology or purchase new ones.

Hold up.... Johnson C. Smith University is the first and only HBCU to be a IBM Thinkpad University. Every student receives an IBM Thinkpad Laptop, fully loaded with software. Internet access is provided through electronic data ports in the library, dormitory rooms (one per pillow) and multimedia classrooms. Network access is available through dial-up modems for off-campus students. The campus also now has WIRELESS capabilities. For more info go to www.jcsu.edu...

Most of the campus at NCCU is already wireless, but then again, we were one of the first campuses in NC to be wired with fiber optics, so I guess we should set trends.

actually Howard does offer wireless service, the quality could be better since it wanes in and out of certain places but its not biggie since so many places across campus have ethernet connections, we have dialup but hardly anyone uses it and we use the faster cable connection, oh yeah we were the first university OUT OF EVEN THE PWIs to be fully wired meaning we had wireless, ethernet, dialup, and tv cable all in one room for each student, research it, youll find something about it....ok sounds not so great now, but back then it was a big deal lol

If I could judge the networking wireless internet (schools, businesses) compared to the consumer (personal "at home" shyt) wireless internet, the networked wireless internet is gonna suck. Consumerized wireless internet has had a few bugs that needs to be worked out....watch out for that crap. We all know how our HBCU's can "be on the ball" when stuff starts to tear up....or maybe thats just my school.

Spelman has a wireless connection... where? When?? And how come I didn't know about it? I know we connect through a network. It's funny that this topic came up seein as I was just havin a discussion the other day about how hbcus, on average, lag behind pwis as far as technology is concerned and why that could be.
