How are the candidates chosen? I know I may sound a little ignorant to some but how come out of all the brothas in college fb, only two were candidates. What is the selection process and what are the qualifications to recieve this award?

just play your best and pad up your stats 8) besides... fucca Heisman... most people that win it don't do Sh*t in the pros anyways... especially in the last few years
Pretty much. The only thing that the heisman says is this: "Hey, you've got the best stats in college football on the best team with the best supporting cast. What are you going to do next??" And the winner answers: "Im gonna waste some sorry NFL teams' 1st round pick!!" Basically, if your the best player on the best team in the country, you can count on getting the award. The qualifications are more popularity (and stats) than actual play. Case in point: Alex Smith, QB from Utah. He did more with less, but he barely even made the race. But Leinart has the best recievers and the best supporting defense.....and look what it got HIM. Its just a big popularity contest.

your assesment is completely inaccurate, the best player on the best team does not always win the heisman, ie. ricky williams, eric crouch, ron dayne, and carson palmer. none of their teams were ranked #1 and none of them won a national title. and i have many more names if you want more.

Carson Palmer is inaccurate... why? USC did win the AP National Title, and they did finish the AP at #1...

if there is a split, then clearly USC wasnt the best team in the nation, my point is still valid. i can give you several more heisman winners that didnt play for top teams. Rashaan Salaam from colorado and ty detmer from BYU. i mean the list goes on and on.

i never said your point was valid... in fact i do agree with you... i also say that the system is flawed... and most players that win it don't do anything in the pros... which is true, b/c the last few winners in the past decade have proven my point... i just pointed out one player... and you wanna take as a personal attack... learn how to breathe... 8)

.........Eric Crouch played for the national title and was a top 3 team....yea Ron Dayne and the Wisky in a Jaw badgers was a Top 6 team and won the big 10 Ricky Williams and the LOOOOOOOOOONGHORNS OF TEXAS WON THE FIRST Big XII title and was a Top 5 team...sorry buddy ole pal...but the Heismans do come from the best players....ON THE BEST TEAMS....every person at the Heisman Ceremony last Saturday......5 players.....5 undefeated teams..just because you dont win a national title dosent mean you shouldnt be put up for awards.. by the way aggie my hbcu cuz....Carson Palmer didnt win the AP title for USC.. USCali lost to Wazzou in 2002 to Co-Champ the PAC 10 title....USC just flew to Miami and handed to Brad Banks and the Hawkeyes of Iowa while Wazzou went to Pasadena and got that **** whipped by the Sooners of Oklahoma 34-14 I am the Lee Corso of HBCUConnect 8)
the year eric crouch won the heisman they werent national champs...they lost 2 games that year. and i didnt say they were teams ranked highly, everyone knows the teams that heisman winners come from winning teams, its just like MVPs. but i said it they dont always come from the "best team." i mean go back to rashaan salaam, ty detmer, or eddie george
