Enlighten Me on Da Purposes of Greek Life!

I'm not disrespecting but I don't understand why so many people eveywhere joins Greek life. I need some enlightenment on some of the myths about the cruel punishments or obligations members or aspiring members have in order to be part of particular organizations. I need someone to tell me the benefits of these frats and sororities and why people go to the certain extremes like get BRANDED with the greek symbol. Let me know.

Do you plan to post on the same subject matter every six months? Last July you asked in What do yall think about fraternities and sororities?:
