I will never understand Christmas. It is one of the biggest religious holidays along with Ishtar…I mean Easter for my Christian relatives and friends, however, all I see is folks running around singing Jingle Bells, taking their kids to see some fat white man in red & white pajamas and complaining about what so & so gave them last year, and why they are not buying so & so a gift. What gives? If Christmas is about a Christian’s reason for even practicing the religion, why is the day spent honoring Santa Claus, and guessing what Auntie Jameeka gonna GIVE me. I thought the day was bout GIVING to others—no strings attached, not TAKING/EXPECTING gifts-- why complain if you received something you do not like. Just donate the item to a shelter or something. It breaks my heart to see folks so tied up in NOT having money to buy a ton of toys for their kids to tear up, and not turn it into opportunity to teach about WHY they celebrate the holiday. My mom counsels people who are SUICIDAL over not being able to purchase materialistic ish for their families. A gift does not show love; spending time with a person and telling them how you feel shows LOVE. SO, LOVE someone this season, and show non-Christians your reason for the season. Christmas in its present form is a complete turnoff as to why a person should become a Christian—too much selfishness, commercialism, and misery for me to celebrate a manmade holiday initiated by a 4th century **** to ease the transition for pagan converts to Christianity who were used to celebrating Dies Natalis Invicti Solis, the Birthday of the Unconquered Sun, or the pagan Sun God, Mithras, being born, which was observed on the shortest day of the year, usually began between 12/21 & 12/27. So tell me again, why do you celebrate Christmas?
