how hard is it to maintain a 3.3 in college

And it depends on the effort you put into your schoolwork.

depends on you....I pulled a 3.65 my 1st semester (str8 As and one C) but that's me. The biggest difference i noticed between college and high school is the study time. College (at least for me) requires a lot of independent and effective sudy time.

Some people are going to disagree with me, but I'd say that your GPA can be influenced by your major as well.
Some majors are harder than others. Generally a 3.3 in math, is good enough for an elite graduate school bid, plus money; whereas a 3.3 in less strenous major, might relegate you to a regional university.
