I don't feel Blacks should feel the need to cater to the White world, but this is reality and Blacks are judged by their "ethnic names" before the interview. I don't really have to go through that, but it still frustrates me when I hear that my people are being profiled because of their name. That's ridiculous.

cosigns....but im meeting more races with "ghetto sounding names".....like theres a white girl whos mom's name is Laquita....but yeah its stupid when u get judged by ur name....but our society is stupid so..
i wouldn't give my child an ethnic name only because i never planned to because i've already chosen raven and robyn...
but yes i'd like to warn you that it does put your child at a little disadvantage in the real world...esp corporate america...when yall get out here, yall will learn that people someimes won't hire you because you're black...seriously i was refused 2 jobs that i was qualified for just because i was black...two positions availiable in my FORMER company!!!
name doesn't matter, you're at a disadvantage period because you're black...and this is a conservative republican talking not some jesse jackson type cat whining about slavery....discrimination is alive and well..especially depending on where ya live...
but we've had some great blacks with "ethnic" names who have risen to great places...
including CONDELEEZA RICE and COLIN POWELL... 8-)

Well I won't have that problem with my name. Most Bretts are white, males... :-D
I think it does put a black person at a disadvantage when they have these ridiculously ghetto names. Unfortunately it isnt fair to profile them and not hire them because of a choice their parents made when naming them, but it is a reality.
