Mom, I think Im An Atheist

It's been a struggle but now it's official. I'm what you may call an Atheist. Now, I grew up in the church. My mother forced my sister and I to go to Bible Study as well as morning service EVERY Sunday. And on Wednesdays we went to J.A.M a program for preteen and teens. Don't get me wrong. My mother never had to drag me to go..I wanted to!! Oh man..I Believed. I believed so much that when I got saved I thought Jesus stood me up and walked me to the front of the church.... I'm a man now. I'm a man that has gone to college and gotten an education. My beliefs have changed. Through the study of World Religions and developing my own Philosophy on life. Did you all know that Shakespeare wrote a large portion of the Bible?? I mean Shakespeare!! I�m not going to go into every reason I don�t believe but I remember the LAST time prayed.... "God, I couldn't even exist on this planet without you creating it..." Then it dawned on me... "But if you�re the God that created me as well as the planets....Who created you?? How, can a God just *poof* out of nowhere?" Who thought of the idea of "God" any way. In the Hindu, religion there are thousands of "Gods". All in which have a symbolic meaning. You know morality, monogamy, faith etc..All of the Gods help the Hindu's live their life and manage in their area. The same could be said for Christianity. The faith in God, develops morality in people which helps us from killing ourselves to extinct. It also gives us faith that things will work out eventually. You know, I didn�t lose my faith. I just lost my belief in the idea of "god"... We think having faith means being convinced God exists in the same way we are convinced a chair exists. People who cannot be completely convinced of God�s existence think faith is impossible for them. Not so. People who doubt can have great faith because faith is something you do, not something you think...In fact, the greater ones doubt the more heroic they can be...

Ad inifinitum, there is a chain to the universe. I believe the God that created this universe has long passed or left us to live our lives without intervention. On the creation of the Earth, I think that something commonly passed up is the creation of the Earth in the Old Testament. Man, that is the funniest thing I've read. In a 24 hour clock period determined by the Sun and rotation of the Earth, God created the Earth in 6 days...but didn't make then sun until midway through the week. Then who is to tell that those first few days weren't in reality complete millenia? And since animals came before humans...yea, you do the math. There is no wrong is questioning religion. If I was to believe God just is, then in retrospect, I would also just believe that nature could have always existed; therefore leading into a whole slew of controversial debacles with people I really don't want to get into them with. Holla in my **** if you want to talk about some straight over the top stuff here regarding religion. Thunder

We can only partially comprehend the notion of God's existence. To do so, we must use human concepts to speak of God: "without beginning or end"; "eternal"; "infinite", etc. The Bible says that He has always existed: " . . . even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God" (Psalm 90:2). And, "Your throne is established from of old; Thou art from everlasting" (Psalm 93:2). Quite simply, God has no beginning and no end. So, where did God come from? He didn't. He always was. To us, the notion of time is linear. One second follows the next, one minute is after another. We get older, not younger and we cannot repeat the minutes that have passed us by. We have all seen the time lines on charts: early time is on the left and later time is on the right. We see nations, people's lives, and plans mapped out on straight lines from left to right. We see a beginning and an end. But God is "beyond the chart." He has no beginning or end. He simply has always been. Also, physics has shown that time is a property that is the result of the existence of matter. Time exists when matter exists. Time has even been called the fourth dimension. But God is not matter. In fact, God created matter. He created the universe. So, time began when God created the universe. Before that, God was simply existing and time had no meaning (except conceptually), no relation to Him. Therefore, to ask where God came from is to ask a question that cannot really be applied to God in the first place. Because time has no meaning with God in relation to who He is, eternity is also not something that can be absolutely related to God. God is even beyond eternity. Eternity is a term that we finite creatures use to express the concept of something that has no end -- and/or no beginning. Since God has no beginning or end, He has no beginning.
