Who do you feel has it the hardest in America, as far as opportunities and the freedom of progression is concerned: The Black man...who America realizes is strong and very capable in spirit in whatEVER they choose to do in life...and therefore it (America) tries its damndest to try to hold him back... OR The Black woman...who not ONLY must face the very alive and present racial problems and obstacles, but also the gender ones as well, as America still feels as though women either can't or at least shouldn't...do certain things men do... ? ? ? ? ?

Black women tend to have a more difficult time finding a place in this society. No matter what the job title is, we are not taken seriously.

Black Men. . .Affirmative Action has made it preferable for an employer to hire black women, in that they are a double minority. Black Men . . .a constant struggle to avoid what might become a deadly confrontation, while maintaining an air of manhood. Black Men . . .constantly under prey by racial profiling cops Black Men . . . enduring disrespect from black women (of all people) in terms of their manhood, and responsibilities Black Men . . .suffering from low expectations, bad parenting, desperation, lack of hope, lack of access, and lack of resources

Maybe where you are, but around here . . the women are getting the jobs and not looking back. Even among my circle of friends, the women on average make about 6 - 8 Gs more than the men.

Coyote, Not that i didn't agree with most of what you said in your earlier post but lets be real...More black women go to college and also more graduate than black men. That is one of the major reasons why we get jobs and black men don't. Most black men don't qualify. So, these big time corporations don't have a choice but to give us the jobs. I also feel that as people who always claim to be so strong, all we do is complain about whats keeping us down. Stop blaming women, yours parents and the white man for your problems. No one else can control your destiny but you. oh and this isn't directing at any particular person.

You said it all. In slavery, one of the owner's main objective was to first and foremost the black man to hit rock bottom. Why? It was some kind of laws or something that I read over a while back, but I forgot the name of them and they talked about how black males were purposely beat in front of their families so that they would no longer be the heads and leaders. We can see this taking effect with all the fatherless families. This is just one of the stereotypes black males have. Others include being criminals, being unintelligent, and slothful. I'm not trying to make this a gender thing or anything but black males are the most despised in America. Black women have alot of opposition but black males are the ones with the targets on them because plain and simple- when the black male is attacked it's gone to reflect on the woman. As more and more men leave their families more and more women have to take on the unnatural role on taking care of the family. This has made women have to become stronger and even more black males suffer because they don't have that father figure. It just becomes a chain. Black men are made to have the hardest instead of the females because if it was the other way around it wouldn't effect black males in a negative way. If anything it would be motivation.

Oh, I'm not making excuses, since I've already worked hard and will continue working hard to get where I am and where I wish to be. I'm just claiming that this is not 1985, this is 2005, and the roles have changed. My original statements appear to place blame on external forces and/or the environment for the obstacles that black men have to face. But who are you referring to in your post?

This statement is not inclusive of all black women, I should have qualified it with a "some". . .and it is fact, that some of you act just as threatened by us as white men.

That is the reason why more of you go to college and get jobs. It goes back much further than adulthood.
