Pledging a white fraternity or sorority

I don't even know if this topic was posted previously, but I'ma start it regardless. I have a friend who pledged a white sorority, she's now a Sigma Kappa @ her college up here in Ohio...i mean her school has no BGLOs whatsoever and tha nearest school with them is an hour away. She loves her sorors tho, so I said all tha power to her. What would u think if u had a friend who pledged a white fraternity or sorority even though they had BLGOs on campus? Would u lose any respect for them?

BGLOs I'd think that they are doing what is best for them.

No. Some orgs are just not meant for some people. I would lose respect for someone who pledged a BGLO just becuase it was black, and not because it's something that fits them.

I wouldn't lose any respect for that person... I would actually gain a respect for them because they followed their heart, and made the decision for themselves. Oh yeah, what up Blue...

eeeeee-iiiiiiiiiiiiiii-keeeeeeeeeee!!! :-D sorry...had to do it Oh, and it doesn't matter to me. My cousin joined one and i still have the same amount of love and respect for her. I mean, at times i was questionable becuz i know there's a certain BGLO that she's interested in, but they don't have any on her campus. Se used to say that she was cautious to wear her letters becuz peeps haven't heard of it or they look at her funny. Part of me felt like she only just this one to belong to sumthin, but hey...to each his own. If she's happy, i'm happy for her.

I'ma have to agree w/ previous posters... a couple of my good friends pledged Delta Zeta and TriSig, and I'm happy for them... They believe enough in their org, and in the good it does, and in turn, I must give them the same courtesy. They educated me about their orgs, and although I'm not going to go down the same path they chose, I have a better understanding of what they are involved in. Not everyone is cut out for greek life, and not everyone is destined for BGLOs.. why do you think that greeks in general make up only like 15% of normal campuses? (there are some exception campuses with a higher or lower general percentage...) Question: Perhaps it is my limited knowledge, but I was pretty sure that they didn't refer to their sorority members as Sorors, but rather as Sorority Sisters... maybe that is different cuz there are BGLOs on her campus... i dunno... you may disregard
