So your in a soro/frat. Many people say to other people when they are interested in becoming apart of a certain org. to " do your research, make sure this is the one for you, and the last thing everybody seems to say is...
GET IN GOOD WITH SOMEONE WHO'S ALREADY IN THAT ORG.
I've been looking at it like, if I wasnt in that org, would I even talk to this person?
So my question for all you greeks is did you "get in good" with someone on your quest to become apart of the org. that you are in? and if so do you feel that is somewhat fake on your behalf?
Also, for those who ARE greeks can you tell the people apart? The ones who are only interested in talking to you because of your letters, and the ones who really want to know you as a person?
I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I thought about this when I was discussing soro's/frat's with my friend.

***Disclaimer: these are the opinions formulated through the experiences of Aggie Blues, and ONLY Aggie Blues. I IN NOW WAY SPEAK FOR ANY GREEKS BUT MYSELF. Other Greeks and Non-Greeks please feel free to agree or disagree to my Opinions***
Now that we got that out of the way, let me say that It’s about Dayum time this topic came up. I mean I’ve been talking to “old heads” about this same thing for a minute.
To answer your first question my systa:
In my “pre-letter” days *snicker* I knew some Sigmas from my hometown so I ain’t really have to “get to know” that many people. I mean don’t get me wrong, I highly recommend that someone that aspires to join a particular chapter in a BGLO (Black Greek Letter organization) get to know the members of that chapter to see if these people are the ones that you want to be affiliated with for the remainder of your natural life…lol Trust me it’s like a marriage situation in some cases. Now on the other side of the spectrum, some people take it to that “other” side, where they are going out of their way to be “nice” because you have something that they want. When Greeks say get to know the people in that chapter, they want you to establish a line of communication, tell them A LITTLE (not your entire life story) about yourself and what you are about. Also get to know them to see if you and the bruhs/ sisters “mesh” well. I don’t believe that getting to know people in an organization that they aspire to be apart of is wrong. But I do believe that one must “do it right” and be aware of how they are coming across to said group of people. But as long as there are letters you will always those people that get to know you for the Right and Wrong reason
Now to answer your second question my inquisitive systa:
As a neo fresh out of the SIGMA FACTORY (located at 1914 G.O.M.A.B. lane…lol) I haven’t developed that 6th sense yet. All I know is that many of people that have never given me the time of day b4 I got letters, bend over backwards, try to do me favors, and even dodge speeding traffic, and basically go out of their way to be “extra” nice to me. I’ll tell you what I was told by another Greek; “Be careful about who tries to approach you, listen to what it is that they are saying when talking to you. And how they act in your presence.” SHE WAS RIGHT!!!!!! I gotta wrap this up because I'm Late for work...lol
But GREEKS JUST BE CAREFUL AND CAUTIOUS because there are people out there (not saying everyone, but there are some) that just want letters to rock on the yard, don’t let the Tee Shirt Wearers bring down your Org, send them packin’
Hope this answers your questions. PM me if you have more questions

I never personally tried to "get in good" with anyone before becoming an AKA lady. Three of them I was cool with prior to even knowing they were AKAs so that doesn't count. But as far as me making it my business to be cool with them or be extra nice to them because I was interested, uh uh. That just ins't me. Fortunately the three that I did know were real cool peeps that's why we connected. I didn't find out they were AKAs until a step show.
I crossed two seasons ago and I have so many new "friends" now it's ridicuolous  I think Greeks for the most part know when someone is being real with them or if someone is just trying to get in where they fit in. It's all relative to me. You being friendly to me does not guarantee you my vote because all Greeks know that everyone, friends included, cannot be your Soror/frat.

well said soror
the best way to get to know a member of a greek organization, is to join the same campus orgs as they are in.
some of those campus orgs are usually greek feeders anyway.

Depends on how you go about it...
HEY I do remember an instance...Me and some bruhs went to a neighboring school for a xyz Party...Well the party ended and everybody had a good time...Well these Alphas, I mean XYZ locked up  :-D and started Marching out...They came by us and elbowed us out the way or at least they tried too...Well Security had to keep us apart, cause we flipped the script and certain things just shouldnt have been done..Anyhow..We had some prosepcts their and they were trying to be on the front line with us and so called fight these guys with us...They were like, Yea man...WE GOT YOUR BACK AND I thought it was soo cute how they were trying to prove their loyalty and such...lol IT WASNT their altercation and they were willing to go out their way and fight to show how much they wanted to be down or whatever....
Just thought I'd throw that out there....
