That's because usually the HBCUs known for athletics, in trouble with something, or is always in the news for something are known.... That's why when you walk into stores at the mall that sell HBCU paraphenalia you only see these major HBCUs

So your question is why is Lincoln so unknown??? Umm, I dont know how anyone could answer that...but I guess compard to other HBCUs that are bigger, located in larger cities, have famous alum, good sports teams, etc those may be the reasons Licoln isnt as popular cause of its size, location, and not being " known " for too much...but I do know Thurgood Marshall is a Lincoln alum...thats the only reason I first heard of the school....but I think a schools popularity is really based on the things I named where people would have had a chance to hear of it.

You'd be surprised, even the big schools aren't that well "known". I told a white girl I was a student at Hampton and she thought I was somewhere chilling with The Diddy or something. I know a few people at my school that didn't even know the university existed until late in their senior year (mostly northerners or westerners). As future alumni of HBCU's we need to support our black schools in someway atleast. I want folks to be like she's C Diddy a HAMPTON grad when I grow up. When you go and do positive things in the community it shows that HBCU's are preparing you well and gain the recognition and respect they deserve. Now after all the positive stuff... I heard Lincoln professors were on strike at one point.

Being from Texas, I didn't hear about very many HBCUs unless they were in the SWAC or on BET. Ok comment done, now what does the title of the post have to do w/ this thread

You right... a lot of people are unfamiliar with Hampton. The only reason why I found about Hampton and even Lincoln is because I wanted to go up East for a little while.
