I agree, being quiet is a result of shyness. A shy person just doesnt feel comfortable expressing his or herself.
i disagree. i am more on the quiet side myself, but i'm am not shy. me being quiet doesnt mean i dont have a lot to say either. i always have things to say, i just wait until i think it really needs to be said. you know, the right time to say it.
See, a lot of people dont realize that I'm shy as hell especially around certain people like, a female friends' parents, and a few new people.
The degree of shyness depends on how long I've known the person who is introducing that new person to me.
There is a difference. In my seperation of quiet vs shy, Im not saying these can apply to ALL quiet and shy people, but just in my experiences this is what I tend to notice:
Quiet - rather be a listener than an opinionator, doesnt tend to start a conversation, but has no problem engaging in one and giving their opinions and $.02, usually like to take things in and listen to others
Shy - is usually uncomfortable talking and expressing themselves in front of people they dont know, tends to be timid about their opinions cause they dont want people to look at them as being wrong or stupid, sometimes can lack self-confidence
i'm quiet... i'll be laid back and just chillin and not say anything b/c i don't want to... but i'm far from shy... b/c i can be comfortable in pretty much any setting...
