WHEN GREEKS ASK THE QUESTIONS

Ok. I've never seen this addressed in a thread... What if a greek asks an aspirant if he/she is interested in their org (and he/she is, but has never expressed interest)? Should the aspirant lie? What if the greek is a friend of the aspirant? Should the aspirant then be honest? Will a greek even ask such a question? Also, when is it appropriate for an aspirant to express interest to a greek he/she knows in that chapter? 1st semester (soph. year) seems too early and Rush seems too late....when (if) did you verbally express interest? I hope my questions don't cross any boundaries. Forgive me if they do.

well greeks orgs are very similiar to cults and they hold themselves extremely high so i doubt they would ask you if you were interested they let you come to them and they also look forward to hazing you and your friends if you choose to join

you'll know when you're comfortable enough to express your interest, .
That's what I was thinking too.

but don't get too comfortable by saying things like, "I can't wait to make line next semester" or "When I make line..." or "We gonna be sorors/frat next semester..." those are a no no. Go with things like, "I've been doing some research and I'm interested in your organization..." PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't say anything about family members or best friends or whatever being in the org...THAT WILL NOT GUARANTEE YOU ANYTHING at least not with most organizations .
Oh trust, I'm very informed on etiquette. Not just from sitting back & reading these forums (hince only "1" post) but from seeing some folks get checked in person REAL QUICK! Thanks for your input.

I don't think lying is the right thing an aspirant should do if someone in the org. that they are interested in asks. In my opinion, that's pretty dumb in that I would look at them like, "why in the hell did she lie." I wouldn't ask that question to someone I wasn't interested in. I agree with OohDatDude in that I say express your interest but do so in a smart way. A girl that will be a freshman at my school next year, emailed me and told me she will be a Delta and asked should she call me Big Sister. That is just dumb! Express interest through support and get to know those that are where you want to be. Most of the time, interest is evident before Rush anyway. Good questions

^^^^ Is it smart to email a greek member at your school period when trying to express interest? I have concidered it before but decided to wait.

I say don't email me unless you know me. I mean she put her pic in as an attachment and everything. I would only email someone if they had given me their email address. *How do these people keep getting it anyway* :-k
