I have to tip my hat off to you on that one because you are right, when you really love something, you do try to learn all you can about it to answer all questions left unanswered. Just like a great many of the Greeks on this board, I am only a neo and haven't been in my dear Fraternity a year yet, so there is so much that is left for me to learn. Knowing the history of what you are a part of because you want to and not because you were "told" to, will only peak your interest in your organization if you are not just in it for the glitz and glamour. So, I definately am eager and willing to learn more about my Fraternity and the inner workings of something that has become a new part of my life.

*I�mma keep it short lol. I�m holding back for various reasons but those who know me in person and on this site know that I can talk for days about things of this nature lol. Anwyay� Kenya, Areme, and Chief what I�ve grown to realize is that the vast majority of members in fraternities and sororities are either clueless or voluntarily ignorant to some of the deeper secrets of their organizations. I�ve spoken to a couple of old heads who are mentors of mine in other orgs outside of my own about this issue and a lot of them told me that they could care less about these things and really don�t wish to learn them for various reasons (ie: they don�t want anything to mess their head up). I know in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia the information is readily available and we have one person on the national executive committee who is a fountain of information and will send us things (if we ask) and travels the country year round at every major event explaining and teaching the deeper things within Sinfonia (I wish I knew 1/98th of what he knows). I�m sure other orgs have some sort of equivalent however, I�m still realizing that majority of people in frats/sororities still remain clueless and/or don�t have a passion to know these things. If they did, they would not only what have a more profound respect for their own organization and treat it differently but others as well because they�d grow to understand that we are all connected in some way. Also, I�m not sure how it relates to ya�ll but I know that same man I mentioned earlier explained that its common (or WAS common) for processes to really breaks down into three steps; Pre-rit (intial learning), Rit (revelation), and Post-Rit (understanding). In my eyes one hasn�t full finished his/her journey until that final post-rit step is achieved to a certain degree. I know that it�ll be impossible for me to stop learning about PMA (it goes deeper than the Mariana Trench) and things significant within my org but at least now I know now that I�m pointed in the right direction and am on the road to being a good Sinfonian. To those out there who don�t wish to learn... Why do you chose NOT to do so? and do you think you can truly effectively make new members the right way without doing so. (in my opinion i think they are being cheated to a certain degree).

I totally agree. I don't understand how someone could openly want to represent something or be apart of it, and not care to know all that they possibly could. Don't just blindly attach your name to sumthin. U could be sellin your soul to the devil for all u know LOL

And Nate...that sort of ties into your last post. I think alot of people don't care to know becuz they get into this for the wrong reasons. If u are a shallow/superficial person, slappin three letters on your chest isn't going to change your persona.

You're right Soundcheck. I've been in my organization going on 5 years and i've gotten all the degrees an Easern Star can get. That only pushes me to work hearder, listen more and become wiser about my beautiful sisterhood. If the teachings are to be applied to my everyday life then I want to know all there is to know about it. When I first entered I know my more seasoned SiSTARS were tired of me because the first word out of my mouth was Why this and Why that. Later on I learned that they favored me over many because of my genuine interest in OES. I didn't even put on nalia for about 6 months after I was initiated because I didn't feel worthy enough. That's how dedicated I am to The Order.

For those that study and learn on their own ... will find out how "connected" the 8 is and the + one!!! lol...(no offence) and why the kappa and alphas are or "SHOULD" be so close!!!

Being almost 4 months old in my organization...Ima baby that knows NOTHING as far as im concerned...Joing the Order has been such a great experience with the women I have met and who know SOOO much and can offer so much of their knowledge to us baby Stars...masonry has information that will take you years to really know, learn and understand ( not exaggerating ). And in realizing that I know my quest for complete enlightment and knowing " everything " associated with freemasonry will never come cause there is sooooo much information, history, and rituals inside the Order...and even in eventually receiving all my degrees in OES...the " learning process has just BARELY " touched the surface...because I can learn of and join organizations that are " masonically affiliated " but not masonic..if that makes sense...for example a there are masonically affiliated organization known as HOUSES such as Daughters of Isys along with a few others. Then to just to learn of some of the background history of all the other Mason and OES affiliations is a learning process in itself...the different affiliations being Prince Hall, Prince Hall Affiliate, Scottish Rite, York Rite, International, etc... it goes on. As far as im concerned I will never know and learn EVERYTHING there is to freemasonry because its so complicated, and because its very detailed and intricate. So, as far as Im concerned, me simply learning about Order of the Eastern Star in my case would be just knowing the " requirements " so to speak. Me digging deeper is EVERYTHING else I named that ties in with the Order and what Freemasony as a WHOLE has to offer.
