I swear yall...the most random people that I would never expect getting into Hampton got in! I thought Hampton was a little more selective...It kinda makes me feel like crap...Its like telling me I could've slacked off all 4 years of highschool and still get in.....I guess it kind of irks me too because Im trying to get away from home but people from my area are getting into Hampton and all talking about going..I don't want "home" following me...I kind of want a new beginning and having people from my highschool isn't going to help. So what exactly is HU's requirements because....these are seriously people that I KNOW grades aren't so hot, have no extra-curricular activities, play no sports, and do NO community service.

Well I thought that Hampton U. was selective as well. I am going there in the fall of 06' and from my knowledge from the website I thought their requirements were for a applicant to have @ least a **** 3.0 gpa and @ the minimum a 1000 on the SAT and an 20 on the ACT. This might be what they would like for you to have, however they are willing to work around this if you show dedication and determination. About you trying to get away from home, you will rarely see any of those people on campus in the fall. Some of those people will probably change their minds between now and April on rather they want to attend Hampton U or not. Once you get to HU you will meet so many new people that you won't even think about the people who are following you from your "home." Don't sweat the small stuff. In the end everything will be okay.

yea i know exactly what you mean. There are ALOT of people at my school who are deciding they want Hampton now and it did kinda bother me to know that so many people from my old high school would be there at Hampton but Hampton is already full of people from NY, and I knew that I'd meet alot of other people around campus so I just had to let it go. Best of Luck to you girl in the fall!

I feel the same way I know people who are under-qualified who are applying and that have been accepted ... I have always wondered whats up with that... I think its the same for alot of schools though because Spelman for example is extremly random. I have been accepted to every school I have applied to with the exception of Spelman. I am still waiting for the to send me a letter. But I know people that go to Howard that werent great students in High School either so I think every school does what they want. But I really dont want to see anyone from High School in college even if I am not going to see them much ESP if I know they have sour graded in High School and I worked my **** off .. but Ooh well I guess if you work hard and do your best you will do alright... and that was a good point most people probably do drop out second sememster lol :-)

Schools are businesses to. They need a way to paythe bills. They accept anybody who is willing to pay to go there. They make sure to accept a good amount of people who'll boost the schoosl rep academically to. Lol.
