Okay... this question is going to the Greeks. (Which I would prefer only Greek members to respond).
Anyway, they had a college organization fair at my school. I did as someone mentioned on the Prospect protocol to go to more than one Greek table to get information and to ask questions. I approached one sororities table and they were real friendly and gave some helpful information. I approached another sorority's table and one of the members was real dry and didn't speak. To sum it up... she was plain out RUDE! So my question is what makes people be so mean spirited? Now... I can understand someone acting like that toward someone if they were on line, but to act like that with someone who is just inquiring about your organization is just plain out crazy! So my question is... do I not let that one person change my decision about the organization as a whole or do I need to consider joining another organization of girls who know how to act with some sense? I understand that the whole purpose of joining an organization is to be friends with the people in the org, but what if they aren't friendly and stupid acting? Just curious to what your responses will be. Also, feel free to give me some helpful advice and share some stories of how it was when you were a Greek interest.
Hmmm, interesting...
What did you say when you approached the table?
Did the woman have a reason to act the way she did?
Actually, I spoke to her as I approached the table and she didn't speak back. I don't know her reasoning for acting as she did, and there isn't any reason for people to be rude to others. She was a bad representation of the organization and I'm considering joining another organization. I pretty much narrowed it down to the two I was going to choose from. I'm not going to waste my money on an organization that has people in it who are silly and don't know how to act. I felt that her behavior was very uncalled for being that people were inquiring about her organization and she had an nasty attitude. I'm too grown for foolishness!
So the only reason you were turned off to the entire organization was because one member didn't speak to you/gave you a cold shoulder? How did the other members treat you? Regardless of what organization you join, you will find folk who are "silly and don't know how to act". If you're too grown for foolishness then a sorority isn't for you. If you can find it in the world, you can find it in a sorority or fraternity, we aren't an exception.

No that wouldn't be wise, they NEED you if they plan to survive another 100 years!
