Pretty much... shoot... i know the schools in my province who aren't even HBCU's would still trip cus the only time i've seen somebody do this was at province and he got his feelings hurt by everybody (he had the colors of the letters right but it was on a wild shirt...).
Folk won't get disowned unless they are just stupid and flat out disrespectful with it but still don't get to creative or you'll gets no love...

if its homemade nalia, make sure its not bootleg and makes your respective organization look good.
