How Important is Retention Rates

Hello Im A Georgia Resident And My Top Two Choices Has Came Down To University Of Georgia And Clark Atlanta University. But My Only Problem With Clark Is That Why Are The Retention Rates So Low. Is That Something I Need To Worry About?? What Do You Guys Think?

It's hard to say. This topic came up in one of the blog posts also. Many factors influence 4yr retention rates, not all of which reflect on the university. 1. Quality of campus life 2. Difficulty of the academic curriculum - a high quality, challenging program can actually lower retention rates 3. Availability of financial aid 4. Availability of remedial education and tutoring Keep in mind that at UGA retention rates are for the entire student body, and retention for minority students can be much different from the student population as a whole.

Are you sure about a academic curriculum being to difficult can lower retention rate? Can please back up that claim.
