All right, I know this question has been beaten to death but since I'm a New Yorker and all I know about sororities is what I've seen from School Daze, can someone tell me which sorority is best for me? I'm looking for a non-Christian based organization. Nothing against Christians, but since I'm not one, I would like a sorority that best reflects my beliefs. Ooh, and can someone also tell me which HBCU has a good study-abroad program? I'm planning to have a major in Biological Chemistry as well as a minor in Asian Studies. I have my eyes on these four schools: Tulane, Howard, Clark-Atlanta and Emory. Thanx for ur consideration and time!

In hopes of stopping an argument before it starts, "No, noone can tell you which sorority is best for you." You may want to familiarize yourself with the topics in the "Greek" forum. Keep it moving folks, there's nothing to see here! It was a false alarm! ~ C...The Resident Peacekeeper (and Resident Booster Cables, when bored )

Well, I'm going Greek the purely for the social thing. I've long realized that change starts with you. But hey, if I can get people in my sorority (hopefully) to come down with me to Louisiana to help rebuild or to raise awareness on what's going on in the Darfur region, then all the better. And so, from recent research I have my eyes on these three Greeks: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta and Zeta Phi Beta. Oh and since I've seen on numerous posts that looks kind of matter, I'm a petite brown-skinned sister with locs.

I went into the Greek topic forums and I am waiting for a reply. Thanks for your efforts, but no one ever got back to me on the study abroad part of my query. I've seen schools up here in the north that have good study abroad programs, like NYU, but I don't want to be the only African-American traveling to China or Japan, it's very discouraging.

Discretion is Key!!! I'm tired of these posts from people who don't have a clue.

Based upon your interest and intended major (Biological Chemistry), I would encourage you to look at Spelman. From what I have heard, its an excellent university. Check out the links below for more information. Good Luck! Spelman College: Off-Campus Programs Spelman College: Academic Programs Spelman College: Catalog/Bulletin 2006-2007

I was considering Spelman, but I'm kind of used to general tide of co-ed schools.
