To get a top choice of housing, a point system was implemented about four years ago. To get the most points you have to have a lot of extra curriculars, a high GPA, community service, etc. It's not something you really have to worry about until the end of your freshmen year because all freshmen are guaranteed housing.

"CS" as in community service? Yes, it does need to be from a credible organization.

Yes and No. I say yes and no because if you dont have enough points to receive your top or second choice of housing, 9 times out of 10 you WILL get housing...just not where you WANT to stay. If you dont get housing at all, you'll be placed on a waiting list. Even wait listed folks end up getting housing because some people with housing end up not coming back to school in the fall or some people with housing decide to get apartments and live off campus...so those spots are given to those on the waiting list. But if you're an athlete you are guaranteed housing. (Damn football players take up all the good spots :glare If you have a scholarship that covers housing, you dont have to worry either.

I guess... I didnt reallly like the point system at first. We used to have a lottery system for housing...your name was randomly selected and if your name was selected first, you got to choose the best housing. But I think the point system encourages students to participate in activities and boost their grades. Or else they will be staying in crap dorms like Carver Hall...
