Hey, my name is Layla (17), I am going to be attending Howard University this Spring as a sophomore transfer student. I am taking the fall off because I have been forced to join the military due to lack of funds, lol.
I’m definitely, what you would call a starving artist. I am a writer (not professional, though I aspire to be), but my minimum-wage job doesn’t support my passion, feel me?
I am not religious, though I am a conscientious objector to all things war and intolerant. Of course, this is quite the dilemma for me because I am joining the military. Either that or not go to school. I pick the lesser of two evils, at least I hope so.
I don’t see religion as the crutch that some use it for, I see it as a beautiful thing that, like human nature, has the ability to transcend dogma.
I plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in marketing and then go on to Harvard or Wharton business school (s) to pursue a dual degree in marketing or international relations and international development.
Hit me up sometime!
Hi Layla and welcome!
I just have a couple of quick questions:
You are going to be a 17 year old sophomore...did I read that correctly? And what school are you transferring from?
If you are an aspiring writer why are you trying to pursue business and not journalism or english?

Thanks for the love everybody!
Yeah, you read it right, lol. I know that throws people off, sorry. I started my freshman year at sixteen so I turned seventeen before the beginning of my second semester. I would be going to Howard this fall, but I have to join to Army so that I can get some money because I dont have any. Strangely enough, they have barred me from scholarships due to every little technicality that they can imagine, but life goes on...
I am not pursuing a degree in Journalism because I really want to study business and Howard won't let me double. I have varied interests and the business world just excites me with its endless opportunities to help people grow and develop financially.
Anyway, I was really stuck on whether to pursue that journalism or English/writing degree since those skills are equally as sought-after in the business world and I do plan to attend either Harvard or Wharton Business. That's what grad school is for right? Well, until next time, thanks again!

I left public school after I got tired of getting into trouble for stupid bureacratic crap and decided to homeschool myself. I didn't have the option of a teacher, so it took me a little longer. It was correspondence.
