I just finished an article on the **** of young black teens, a young black teen was gunned down by a mexican gang simply for being black. I feel that when I go down south for college that it won't be like that anymore. Are there still black verses mexicans gangs down south?

To my knowledge, that's NOT isolated to the South. It happens more in places like Texas, California and other places with a growing Hispanic population (and I mean growing in power as much as I do numerically). From my travels, it isn't so much a Black/Hispanic thing as it is one of indigenous Americans vs. Hispanics. Obviously, when I say indigenous, I mean those of us with 3 or more generations here...not the Native Americans who are the true indigenous folk. Sadly, Black AND White Americans have gotten spoiled and lazy. We have entitlement issues and DON'T have a concept of how things are globally. The (mostly Mexican) Hispanic immigrants are out-hustlin' us. Some hate them for it, but I respect it because they're where we used to be in terms of work ethic. A lot of it spills to a class war. No one wants to be the "low man on the totem pole". Race is the easiest way to tell each other apart, so it occurs on those lines. But know that it isn't the norm and that it is NOT isolated to HBCU areas.

Wow I really want to cry and hug you. I kno EXACTLY who you are talking about. DeAndre Netter. Temple City right? He was my best friend in elementary school. And if i'm wrong, the sad part is that I know someone who was **** for this very reason. That's EXACTLY why I WANT to go to a HBCU My major is in sociology and my goal is to improve relations b/w Blacks and Mexicans... The fact that I'm Mexican should be no reason for ppl to hate me. No matter what color a person is, there is no justification to killing someone "just because" I want ppl to see me and know that I went to a HBCU, that I have some understanding of black culture and not just some uneducated person who has no understanding. Dam...I really wish So Cal wasn't all about race hate. You know about the city of Monrovia right? and all the things they were going through around this time? Ms. Sweet....you and me really do have too much in common

Well in like early 2008 there was a huge uprise in Latino/Black **** in Monrovia Just because of the gang affiliations and ppl thought they had to prove themselves "loyal" to their race? but here's an article on it Racially-charged **** puts Monrovia on edge - Los Angeles Times

Ok I def will. And yeah it is sad that People come to America and think it's such a fair place and diversity is everywhere and this and that and when they are put in certain situations they realize people are so close-minded here They think that everything is a "us vs them" atmosphere =[ Well thats my goal to change that but yep yep i'll def keep you updated in everything =]
