I don't know if anyone has posted these questions before but this is my personal experience and I just want to see what type of feedback that I would recieve.
Well I have always wanted to join a BGLO, before I came to college. I always "knew" which one i wanted to be because either everyone around me was in this particular org. or people told me to choose their org. However, when I came to college, I began to do my research and spent time with the org. I thought I was interested in. I learned a lot. I also learned that I am not 100% certain anymore of which org. I want to join. My predicament is everyone is saying do research and join what fits your personality.
Now the org. all seem to have very positive aspects to them which does not help me to really differentiate which one it is that I really want to join. I have not seen any negatives, besides probably some chapter members. So onto the personality part, how is it that I can choose an org. that fits my personality without being stereotypical if that makes sense. How will I find out particular "personality traits" of a certain org. at large, because if I look at it chapter wise, that might make things a bit complicated?
Another question is alot of people say to choose based on the org. itself rather than just on the chapter, but then some people say look at what the chapter does such as community work etc.? What if the chapter that does the most is an org. you are not fully interested in and the org. you are is not very active. Does that mean you should not join that org., or join and work to help that organization to grow and flourish and excel in the activities they lack.
Any other tips about research and choosing would also be great, because I dont want to ask the wrong questions.
If you can't find an org that fits your personality, don't join at all. Greek orgs are not for everyone. If you find that the org you had your mind set on is not what you particularly like on your campus, then don't join it. It is about making friends and being around people you are comfortable with. Make sure you focus on finding a good church home and being involved in it. Many churches have community service projects that you can be involved in, and you can meet several people. You will find that many churches have so many projects and events, you won't have time to be involved in anything else. If you want to be involved in your community there are several clubs or organizations you can be involved in besides Greek orgs.

I never stated that I couldn't find an org. that fits my personality but I'm just inquiring about how can I find something that matches my personality without stereotyping. Like my personality may be a little fun yet I know when its time to be serious or I may be all about nature or all about beauty so if for instance I'm all about nature wouldn't it be stereotypical to say I'm joinig XYZ because they're all about nature I'm just using nature as an example the other characteristics may not be as general or good. I'm just having a hard time figuring out how do I say ok XYZ is fun thing and thats my persona or XYZ is serious and that fits me, because from what I've seen they all have good times and serious times and have fun yet do positive things for communities etc. I have joined other oganizations and active in my own church. I know this is what I want to do just not sure about how to come to a final decision without being biased or without looking at everything before I do. Thanks for the feedback though, was hoping to get alot more when I found the site but I guess its not very active.
The site is active but the question(s) you asked confused me. I didn't know what you really wanted to know.
If you're simply trying to decide which organization to join you TRULY have to make that decision on your own. That's why people keep telling you that.
If you don't want to go by "stereotypes", ask members of the respective organizations you're interested in, how do they view their organization?
I suggest asking a member because the view is different from the outside looking in. We don't always identify with the stereotypes folk have given us.

Again as I stated before, you will have to observe how the girls operate/act on your particular campus. Personalities of orgs vary from campus to campus depending on the people in the org. For example, you might find some nice AKA's on one campus and you might find them to be mean on another campus. You will have to observe how the girls of xyz are on your campus, and you will know if you want to hang around them or not.
