I've seen a lot of these, so I'll be short. You guys think I can get into howard? I'm submitting my application this week. Just finished my essay, got my report card, etc. nows the time.

2.7 GPA
top 50% class rank
Debate team captain
26 act (31 writing, 24 everything else, 11 essay)
1120 SAT (560 math, 590 writing, 560 reading)
no honors courses.. taking physics/trig/alg2/precal in one year, though
18th in state national french test
20+ hours of extracurriculurs/work
really good essay (I'm afraid to post it, as I've been advised not to do so)

also, I had heard of some misnomer with gpa calculations. because my avg. grade for this year is 87.7, you find 87.7 percent of 4.. giving me a 3.5 by normal standards (in the north), but the way my school does it, I'm sitting on 2.8 (4 for as, 3 for bs, 2 for cs, etc.. then you divide by the no. of classes.)

annd.. I'm looking to major in architecture.

last thing: I got mail from Hampton asking me to attend their "Honors Visitation Weekend" in November. Is this legit? or do they like.. send this in mass to everyone?

It's legit I got one too. But I couldn't go (no funds)... Anyways I think you have a good chance of getting in my stats aren't much different than yours (27 ACT and 2.79 gpa). If you applied to Hampton you might get a scholarship. I guess i can't really give you a specific answer to your question but I can tell you that you have a good chance of getting in and a great chance of getting a scholarship from Hampton (If you applied). Good Luck!! I hope we both get accepted!!

Yeah.. I forgot that Hampton's arch. program isn't accredited, so, barring some big scholarship, I'm not gonna be attending, methinks. What about Howard? My grades have slipped over the past two months or so (I missed a lot of school while in the hospital.) and I'm around 2.5ish.. which is what I think I'll finish out as. Any hope of at least getting in? I haven't applied, yet. Also, what should I put in my portfolio for the arch. school? anyone else applied?
