I couldnt agree more, it is our responsiblity as educated african americans, to go back and instill some sort of pride and education into the lower income predomitely black and hispanic communities. For all of those who want to pursue education as a career choice, i salute u because its gonna be hard to reverse the miseducation we have going on right now. To those in business, we should look towards independency, and building our own legitimate business in our neihborhoods to stop gentrification. to those in science and healthcare, we should work together to educate our people on how to live and eat healthy. After all, it seems that we are at higher risk to many of the illnesses that plague our community. And to those in law and political science, it is your job to fight for the injustices that are being done to our people. You are our voice that rarely makes it to congress, the court room, and the white house. Its a big task but i still have hope.

Ive read a few articles, and i saw it on the news. It wasnt at Morehouse's commencement. It was a Constitution Hall during a program about Brown vs. Board of Education. I totally agree with what Bill Cosby was saying. But at the same time, there is a time and a place for everything, and during that time, i dont think it was appropriate. The article said that Kwesi Mfume & H. Patrick Swygart were shocked.

^^^ Yeah I know it was at constitution hall, but someone from another forum said that he had mad a similar speech earlier or sometime around that occasion at Morehouse where he went into depth. I would have had to be at the event to know if it was completely appropriate. I heard that Swaygert (sp) made a rebuttal after Mr. Cosby spoke stating that blacks aren't the highest population on welfare and some other comments. I think Cosby should make that speech at some other events where there is a mixture of people...not just high-income blacks.

I agree, see i didnt know that he mad a speech like at Morehouse... But hes getting older, and they were saying on Tom Joyner, that just b/c the man is getting older, doesnt give him the right to just go off like that. But i do honestly agree with the majority of what he said.
