Wuz Up Ya'll... I just have a quick question for you guys to ponder. Do you feel BGLOs carry the same weight of impact that they did back in the day [Civil Rights Movement, etc.] or do you feel they are more of a social outlet for students today?

I feel that BGLO still carry the same weight today as they did back in the 60's or even when they were first organized. In certain parts of the world, people still have to fight for equality, but it is nothing like it was in the 60's. So, just as the times have changed, I feel so have some of the goals of BGLOs. That is not a bad thing, but India Arie put it best: "The ONLY thing in life that is constant, is change."

I think it's more of a social outlet these days, particularly for undergrads. Back in the day when people thought of BGLOs, they may've thought of social service to the people. These days the first thing many people think of are the glitz and glamour (wearing the colors, the calls, the step shows, etc.) This is merely my opinion though.
