but yeah...I was born in Houston, TX and lived there for awhile...and I think i have a vague memory of Juneteenth

This is sad, we all should know... but I think it was the day that slaves in the west found out there were free and had been free for a while...
If Im wrong then someone can correct me....but thats what I remember it being.
yeah we had a celebration last year. It was when the slaves found out they were free but they had been free and nobody told them. lIke when the amancipation proclamation really didn't help them cause the north didn't have control over the south when the civil war was goin on so that was just a political platform for Lincoln.
