Quote: I am a soon to be frosh in high school. That said, I moved to the south (south of Houston) from lily-white Minnesota 2 years ago, AND there is a big difference in attitude among blacks. It was assumed that I only like white females cuz I am from up north—that is FAR from the truth. I would never have a white girl—just isn’t me. Secondly, it is assumed I lived around white folk all of my life— a partial truth, but I also lived in the hood a few years.
Black folk down here think young black males they don’t know are up to no good , are ignorant and just jumped off the watermelon truck--that is until I open my mouth and speak.
All the brothers my age are gangsta, rappa, or preacher wannabes-sorry if I offended anyone, but it’s the truth. No one talks about going to college or being anything other than a gangsta rapp’n preacher. Ridiculous. Some think I am arrogant, stuck up, or whatever, but I am not. What is perceived as arrogance is basic home training and a love for learning—can’t knock a brother cuz his brain is a sponge, and his mums expects him to treat a lady nice, speak proper English, realize and own dreams and aspirations
Oh, I thought all the southern girls were church girls with morals. Well let me say that there are a lot of pregnant girls and mommas entering high school this fall. Those that are not pregnant or already with a baby, look like they are a Gemini video reject. My assumptions about the south were far from reality.
I understand now what my pops was stating about how a Chico or Brother wanting to do something with his life is considered a turncoat. But I am taking his advise to heart and being the best at what ever is important to me--forget everyone else, cuz I am the one that has to put food on my table after I’m done with school
did u say u were bout to be fresh in high school? u are very intelligent. i wish there were a lot of other males who thought like you.
