Why Greeks hate on other Greeks?

I'm non-greek so i really dont check this forum out that often. However while at my job, something happen that made me bring up a question that I always wanted to ask...
Why do Greeks (not all..dont get me wrong) hate on other Greeks?
I was sitting at my job and this one Sigma I work with was doggin out this other kat who was a Kappa...For one the Sigmas words went in one ear and came out the other...There was no need for him to hate on the Kappa kat (whos mad kewl) just becaues of his org. I have also seen Greeks hate on other Greeks on my campus a few times.
Also I had a run in with a Delta who seem kewl at first, but when I told her I had mad respect for the AKA's becaues they gave me one of my scholarships, she about took my head off. :evil:
I mean you all are apart of the Divine Nine (well some of you.. :wink: ) and you all are a unique and vital part of 20th century African American history; shouldn't you all work with eachother to make eachother look good to the public and for yourselfs? I know eachone holds something different, thats why you choose that org, but yo why hate on eachother?

^Some people let their letters dictate their actions. They feel they need to act a certain way because of the letters they have. In reality, they are just playing into the stereotype that surronds their org, not speaking of any org in general. I am the same person I was before AKA to this day: I was a nice, approchable person BEFORE AKA and I still am, I had very good grades BEFORE AKA and I still do, I did tons of community service BEFORE AKA and I still do, I was PRETTY :wink: before AKA and I always will be! 
I think it just depends on the person's mindset. I don't hate on or compare myself to any org because I know I made the right decision; people who have to bad mouth another org in an attempt to big their own up end up lookin stupid and childish. For all my other fellow Greeks I have lotz of luv 8)

And sometimes it's just friendly competition or even jokes. A lot of the time it isn't really hate at all. . .

^^I agree. Sometimes its friendly messin around. Like all the pics that have a person of one organization being "bigger and better" than another. Its no biggie. On my campus I can say that the greeks all chill and have respect for one another. There are those FEW that will mess up and act a fool just because of their letters... but its not an "everyone" thing.
