Do we actually deserve 50 acres and a mule now??? I know this may be a biased and conterversial question... However....that land was promised to our elders...Now it is sad that they did not recieve this land...however...we as offspring has develo9ped much more that 50 acres and a mule... I see this development when I look at my school...at 63 acre campus...I see this development when I see black millionaires owning 100 acres of land...I see this development with people of color recieving office, voting, working, beocming CEO's, owning homes, and much more... And if we did deserve it...what good wouldit do...I towuld create alot of hell no for the black's of today!!! Sorry if I sound ludacris....I'm against slavery and racism...however..I feel we as blacks don't need a small 50 acres and a mule... we have done better with out it and far better with it in words... What do you all think???

I don't agree with the concept of "giving" the black race 40 acres and a mule. For one the value is definately outdated. More importantly I believe that we as a race shouldn't look for handouts from the government. I think that alot of times in our race handouts due more harm than good. Handouts only encourage laziness. Despite the cruelties of segregation and slavery our trials have only come to make us stronger as a race.

Good question. I don't believe African Americans today can handle 40 acres and a mule let alone deserve it. It has been proven in the past that we abuse some of our resources and unfortunately 40 acres and a mule at this time would be more of a punishment than a reparation but all we would do is make huge "ghettos" and projects. However, the principle of reparations is not so ludicrous. It is extremely odd to me that the Japanese Americans and the Jews got reparations but African American have yet to get so much as an apology. True it was our ancestors who directly suffered but the Japanese reparations were giving to descendants of the victims and nobody mentioned that. But more importantly than that we suffer very much from slavery today. From the light skin vs. dark skin complex, to our lack of enthusiasm towards education they can all be traced back to slavery. The way I see it now, 40 acres and a mule would be useless but giving us some type of reparations in the for of education would help a lot. Give us something that counts. 40 acres and a mule would have helped then but education is what we need now!

very true. i would have to agree. if you saw the episode of dave chappelle about reparations, he was using a lot of stereotypes but he was somewhat on point. i do think it's unfair that we've never gotten so much as an apology though...

i don't think that we need it cause half of our population is already lazy and that would make them even lazier and we need to strive for success and set goals for ourselves. it would be no point in life if everything was handed to you. so i don't think so.
