I am open to any guy physically but I do have a preference... Medium brown to dark chocolate skin  Tall  Thick or Muscular Build  Baggy Jeans, Tall tee, Jersey  Deep Voice My preference just has to do with what I have experienced and how I liked it compared to others. Preference, also in some cases, has to do with media and their protrayal of what beauty is.

I'd say in most cases that's what it has to do with. Lookin in the 80s, all you saw on TV as far as actors and R&B singers was light skinned foos wit jheri curls, and that's what girls liked. In the last few years, you've seen darker dudes, usually corn rows or low cuts, and a lot more "thugs" or whatever, and that's what girls like now. Same with dudes, all you see in music videos is mixed lookin girls with long **** hair, and that's what most dudes seem to like the most.

Lightskin & Mixed girls have always been the thing. I don't think that has ever changed or shifted. Black men, since slavery, have been exposed to the notion that White is beautiful so anything that looks like that or comes close is most beautiful to them. It's sad & ridiculous but the truth.

I agree, the media and sometimes your own family will try to keep your shallow and miss out what's best for you. I once had prefences, but now I see beauty in every shade. If the tone of your skin determines your beauty, then it shows the shallowness of society. I rather date someone on the content of their character than to date them based on their looks because beauty fades away, but the character stays the same.

Most guys I end up talkin to look like they could be in my family....... Its kinda scary I prefer intelligent, openminded, a lil mysterious, enigmatic, rebellious, pragmatic, confident, sarcastic dudes. I love someone I can argue with. And because I have all of those traits arguments will be routine.

I used to have a list of about 100 qualities, which included the physical and personal traits, that I wanted in a guy. Some of the personal traits included that he be 6 ft or taller, had dark brown skin, and had nice teeth. The personal traits were that he have a relationshpi with God, be intelligent, and all of that important stuff. Now, I am not as picky.....but that list still applies to some guys. I think the fact that now I am older, I realize you can't map out/write out your perfect guy because there is no such thing.

In high school I had a long list preferences. Now that I am in college and mature, all of those things are in the past. Someone comes your way and takes your breath away. And you never expected it to happen. Preferences yeah right? When chemistry takes over, it's a wrap.

I refuse to let something as simple as a preference dictate who I choose as a potential mate.
