What are some successful efforts that your chapter has had or that you have seen? Please omit the good ole party.

I've learned the hard way that best way to make money is not to spend it to try and raise money (kinda obvious but hey...) lol. One thing that was very succesful last semester was something we dubbed "The Sinfonia Sessions". It worked out so well that we intend to bring back this upcoming year. It was pretty much a jam session/open instrument/mic event. What we did was requisition a nice place on the campus (President's Dining Room). Decorated it some and flipped the lighting a lil bit (nothing too expensive) and set up a small lil stage area in the front of the room. Seeing that we have nothing but talented cats in the chapter already, we pretty much got together and came up with some ideas of songs and repertoire so that it was tight and jammed for the night. We also holla'd at some of the local cats who were nice too an invited them to come thru. Students pay $5-10 dollars to see people perform in the local clubs around here like Apache, Churchhill, or 201 Courtland so why not bring it to them and charge less. Plus its an open instrument/mic so if people get up and play/spit they get a discount. Plus you really don't need any flyers (they do help)... word of mouth for events like this spread and we ended up gettin quite a bit of people. Not too mention its a fun event.

I've seen the Alpha's do womans appreciation.... Alot of females go to get back rubs, massages and things of that nature.... I've heard stories about licking feet.... and strawberries and whipped cream but they may have been lying... There have been alot of poetry nights also.... ummmm alot of talent showcases and alot of theme parties. These events are usually between $1-$3 I think we even had a party for .50 cents.

Oh yea, and the date should be a group date. You don't want any missing persons reports filed as a result of your auctioning someone off.lol
So true. That would be scary to get someone that's been obsessing for a while..."I finally got you! I'll never let you go now!" 3 months later they find the missing girl tied up in a dorm room closet as its time to leave to go home for the summer....did I take that too far?

I hate to say it, but we dont do too many fundraisers, my chapter basically lives off of dues and money out of our pockets But some things that we have done and i have thought of are Raffle's- We raffled off 3 valentines gift baskets and made alot of money for March Of Dimes in the spring of 04 We also did a carwash for our stepteam which i want to do again cuz its good sisterly bonding and hanging out as well as makin money And asking for donations from people in the student center for March of Dimes last fall Most of our fundraising money does not go to the chapter, but to whatever chapter and national projects we sponsor such as the Lupus Walk
