Colleges such as Howard, Hampton, Spelman and Morehouse are private institutions because they hold their own endowment funds and are funded through that and donations from corporations and alumni, not through governmental funds. Greek organizations are private by virtue of their being self-funded and not by the government, NOT by who is allowed membership or who they market to.
