How did you decorate your dorm room to make it liveable

hay hbcu students iam a entering freshman and i just noticed how **** and small dorm rooms are any advice on how to spice up my new home

Okay, so I'm living in room 112 of my hall, and I figured I should probably make it the jump off. A few upperclassmen have told me blacklights are key, so I'm with that. I've also located some zebra print satin sheets with matching pillowcases and bedspread. That looks pretty tight, too.... A nice thick rug will do well, not sure on a color or pattern yet, though. Some wall decoration will be necessary. I've got some posters up now, but I may lose them to go with a more unified scheme that ties into the room as a whole. I think a sign for the door is needed, too. Also, depending on the look and amount of space going on, some rearranging of the furniture might be necessary. So hopefully if all goes well, this place should look livable by the time visitation starts... ~Josh~

AIIGHT HERE YOU GO YOU CAN DO IT LIKE THIS YOU CAN START WITH A POSTER FO WHAT U LIKE TO DO AND PUT THAT ABOUVE YOUR BED CUZ IN MY ROOM I GOT SOME PICTURES OF MY GRADUATION AT HIGH SCHOOL AND SOME PICTURES AT HOME AND SOME POEMS THAT PEOPLE HAVE WROTE EM TAHT I LOOK AT TO KEEP MY SELF ON TRACK WHILE IM HERE AND MY FAVORITE FOOTBALL TEAM IS THE BALTIMORE RAVENS SO I HAVE A RAVENS FOOTBALL THATS AUTO GRAPHED IN MY ROOM ON MY DESK AND MY BED SET IS MIXED WITH BLUE BLACK AND WHITE MY FAVORITE COLORS SO START WITH THAT AND AS UR THERE YOU WILL BUILD ON BE FORE U KNOW IT YOU BEEN CHANGED YOUR SIDE OF THE ROOM LIKE YOUR HOUSE......HOLDING IT DOWN FOR THE GREEN ANDGOLD AT NSU IM OUT :!:

I brought my stuffed animals, put some curtains up, matching bedspreads with my roommate, a little rug, stereo, t.v., computer, and a fridge. I like my room everything matches even the futon chair.

Glad to know that I wasnt the only one who did that....and peeps thought I was out my mind doin' it, hell it was fun. In addition, I got posters, and one of those eggcrate foam things for my hard a$$ bed :lol: The key is for u and the roomate to make the place feel as much as like home as you can with the space that you got. I heard of some of my A&T people stacking the 2 desks and creating an "Entertainment center"...dont knock it, cause it works 4 real!!!!

Whatever u do, don't overdo it and bring more things than needed (noting is worse than a roommate trying to bring her whole bedroom from home). I have my own room so I have alot of things I really don't need, but get a cute comfy set, your computer ( a must...I hate sharing), some nice curtains 2 match the room (wait until u get there, don't want u buying brown curtains and ya'll comfy sets are pink) Like 2 posters, and some picz from home...one of those days you feel down and lonely they will cheer you up (atleast mine do) and that's about it.

Yes this makes a world of difference!!!! Set the room up like you dont even have a room mate lol j/k. Take the good side of the room with the good mattress and the most outlets!! I really dont think I decorated my dorm too heavily, but it's very livable. Once you set up your room and then go see someone else's your gonna want to change it around anyways. The best decorations are a DVD player, Computer, Radio (that actually works..), and FOOD!
