First Day @ Your HBCU

What was your first day like? Just curious about everyone's experience...

it was the worst day of my life. there's no greater feeling of loneliness once your parents drive off, and you realize that you don' t know a single person at your school... not to discourage anyone...

Oh my gosh. LOL! I remember it like it was yesterday... My first day at school was TERRIBLE. I never want to relive that day ever again. Okay, first of all, we got there late. Apparently my mother misread the time that I was suppose to be moving in so I pretty much missed all of the NSO activities. I think that may have happened for a reason though because when I went to college, I had A LOT of stuff. So much stuff that we had to rent a cargo van. The cargo van place was bull jiving because we had already paid our money to use it, then the lady at the place told us that she let someone else use the van when she knew I had to go to school . So here we are waiting, waiting, and waiting. Finally, the van shows up, and off to school I am. Now I don't know how many people on here attend ECSU, but in Elizabeth City, its ALWAYS raining and my first day there was no different. It was hot and muggy, just a mess! My hair got messed up, it was just bad lol. I get to school and my mom is a pain in my ****! I'm trying to move all my stuff in and instead of helping me, she's outside socializing being all loud. At this point, I'm like REALLY agitated. So up and back down stairs, up and back down stairs I went (the first dormatory I stayed in had no elevator). Finally, we got everything moved in, and now everyone just wants to sit around and talk and I'm like, I'm ready for ya'll to go now lol (I didn't say it, but I was thinking it though). After we got my room situated, we hugged, and they left. I met my very first friend their too. She just came to my door and introduced herself. She was really nice. That made my evening go by a little better. Later on that night, we went to the pool hall to chill and I met some more people. It was smooth sailing (well, kind of) after that.

wow...first day at Hampton? It was alright I guess...lol...had to deal with the HU runaround for the first time gaining financial clearance and FINALLY moving in... So I moved in hot Kelsey Hall, 4th floor (PENTHOUSE!)...finally got all my stuff together and in the room...met my roomie (I miss her!) and the girls next door...met my RA...met some of my NETSET (HBCUCentral clique I had met online and finally in person) friends who were in the same dorm...then went out with the fam...afterwards my fam dropped me off and I had to go to the welcoming ceremony where we learned our class name (ONYX 7!), met the senior class, and learned the alma mater...ehhhh it was okay...looking back 3 years later, I'm like awwwww I miss Hampton a little bit lol...first day of classes was just like high school! lol
