I got my letter from Spelman about 2 days ago saying that they were not able to offer me admission at this time.... I am very disappointed, because that was my first choice. The letter basically said that they had a lot of applicants and that there was not enough room for me, but they encouraged me to apply as a transfer next year......
Looks like I'm going to Hofstra University in New York, which is not an HBCU. I think I would be more comfortable @ an HBCU, which is why I really wanted to go to Spelman, although I only applied to 2 HBCUs.
Has anyone else gotten rejected from the schools they really wanted to go to??
awww, lol thank you!!!!!
But is it hard to get in as a transfer student??? Atlanta was where I was raised and born and my sister lives down there. (I live in DC now) So I really want to go to Spelman, but what are my chances of getting in as a transfer student??
My big mistake was probably applying regular decision, so this time I am going to apply early and should my application be different in any way (probably a new essay) but anything else?

I know it hurts, yet as long as there is always a tomorrow, there exist opportunity. I have been accepted to Spelman as a Transfer Student for Fall 2007, and I am simply struggling to come up with the funds to attend.
In life there are many road blocks and the weak allow the road blocks to deter them and re-route their dreams, where as the strong immediately begin to strategize as to how to break-down the block.
If you want to attend Spelman, truly, and are willing to put forth the extreme effort to attend, then you will. To be a woman of Spelman takes strength, and dedication. If you actively believe in yourself and all that you can achieve then you will attend Spelman. Don't allow anyone else to tell you otherwise. Had I listened to those around me, I wouldn't be where I am today.
