Anyone know whether or not Howard is taking the essay portion of the SAT into serious consideration, or are they still skeptical about it's credibility??? When it was first added to the SAT I know many schools disregarded it altogether, but since it's been for few years now I'm not sure as to what they percieve as a good score/bad score. The highest you can make is a 12 and I got an 8.....just wondering where that would put me I guess.

Ya got me on that one. All of that is way after my time. I mean, I don't see that included on the HU website, so I think in the end they are maily concerned with the overall score. I could be wrong tho...this new version of the SAT is totally foreign to me. Now I know what my mom felt like when I would ask her for help on my homework in highschool lol

I answer all questions honestly and to the best of my ability and I have absolutely no answer to this one. The last time I took the SAT was in 2000, so of course, that was before the new version. My only advice to you is to make sure that ALL parts of your test are where YOU want them to be in order to secure admission to the University. If you are satisfied with a score of 8, fine. If not, then strive to get that perfect score of 12.

hmmmm......so basically I'll need to make some phone calls between now and the end of the summer. An 8 seems to be good enough but I don't really want to "settle" if I think I might be able to do better. Scholarships.....ughhh I should have been smart and started at the beginning of Junior year like everyone was tellin me to do. Thanks for the advice/input yall

I don't know for sure, but on the website and in the information packet I have recieved, there was been no mention of the third portion of the SAT, so I don't think they are taking it strong consideration. (Also, they don't ask for on the admissions application.) On the freshman scholarship page, they say that they are only taking the critical reading and mathematics SAT scores for consideration, not writing. But you never know. Something could change from this year to the next.

Oh no, don't just stop in highschool. It's never too late to start/stop applying for scholarships. There is TONS of free money out there. And all of it isn't just for those just entering college. Even as a freshman, soph., or junior in college, never stop seeking free money if u can help it. I only wish that I would have been as wise and didn't just cave in to the easy way out (loans). Lemme tell u...borrowed money is nothing but a TRAP

Of course I'm going to pursue scholarships well through all of my years of undergrad. and so on....I just wish I would have started the whole process earlier. I'm already bad with deadlines [something I need to fix before college] and I wanted to be ahead of the game as far as having some money already set aside. Being in Jabberwock got me on my feet so I'm just working my way up from that.
